I don't think the loading time would be that bad. But I guess folks like me are used to slow loading as I'm on 26.4kb dial up (phone lines here give me a really poor connection).

Anyways, I think you way overdid the bevels and shadows; it looks very large and bulky. Also, the way you blended the background into the page looks rather "abrupt."

bevils look very much over done, and the textures seem tacky. Also, the only way I can imagine getting this layout into being fit for online viewing is by cutting it up and using tables. Largely, the web as a whole is moving away from that. Perhaps try reading up on CSS, xHTML, and mostly things linked too from mezzoblue.com, a leader in the internet revolution. I only suggest this because, as much as I can imagine you tried (trust me, I was once in the same boat; still am, as a matter of fact), perhaps you should fine tune your graphics skills before making it the focus of your layout.
